Oh, for the love of Patrick!

The current controversy regarding who Patrick will be adopted to has become a viral issue being debated and argued over on just about every Facebook page created in Patrick’s honor.   A war, if you will, is being fought over not only where Patrick will live, but the credibility of AHS and their staff.

I am personally one to argue and debate a valid point until I am blue in the face, however, how valid are these opinions being spewed as ammunition in this verbal warfare?

Let me point out, if we calculated the total number of hours each person has spent arguing their empty, biased opinions on the same, imaginejust imagine, how many animals could have been cross-posted and subsequently saved.  Just food for thought.

Most seem to be on the side of GSVS, stating that the GSVS employee interested in adopting Patrick should be able to adopt him as they have provided his care, brought him back from near-death, etc.

I am of the opinion that Patrick, like any other dog, should be in the care of someone who can and will love him unconditionally for the rest of his days.  If that happens to be said GSVS employee, than so be it!

It should be pointed out, however, that AHS, made the decision to save Patrick.  They could have easily euthanized Patrick, due to his emaciated condition and the thought of the costs of take care of the same.  They didn’t.   I have noticed, AHS hasn’t received much credit for this.  That, is sad.  There would be no Patrick, no Movement, no MIRACLE, if it wasn’t for AHS initially.

This is not to discredit GSVS at all.  GSVS has done a beautiful job with Patrick and we owe many thanks to them as well.

Some people have claimed that AHS is only in this for ‘the money’.  From what I can tell, that accusation is false.  I do not work for AHS, I do not volunteer for AHS, I don’t even live in Jersey.  These basis for this accusation:  AHS has Patrick’s pictures copywritten.  HELLO?!  WTF!

It is not a newsflash that our dear Patrick is a media sensation, and there has been overwhelming evidence that groups have been created just to market his image to make a quick buck.  I am under the opinion that AHS did this in order to PROTECT Patrick from being further exploited by scammers – you  know, people who are taking YOUR money and pocketing it?  Give me a break!

AHS is a 501 3(c) NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION, who has been running solely on donations since 1906.  That’s over 100 years that they have been around, sheltering, helping, adopting out and caring for animals.  That’s also over 100 years of experience when it comes to caring for and adopting out animals.  All of that experience is out the window now and only when it comes to Patrick?!

To those of you who are a part of the debate:

Have you stopped to remind yourself that you don’t know PATRICK, you don’t know the employees at GSVS, you don’t know AHS and you certainly don’t know the behavior specialist who did the report concerning the possible GSVS adoption?  Did everyone take a crash-course over the weekend and become an expert?  If so, maybe I was too busy trying to save lives to notice.  Everyone needs to get their egos in check and put their opinions away.

Fact:  We don’t know all the facts or the parties to this situation.
Fact:  We all aren’t experts.
Fact:  Our opinions are essentially without merit.  GET IT?

The only thing you radical debaters are doing is carelessly and senselessly bringing down the reputation that AHS has built in the last 100+ years.  In the long run, donations may be hindered, which means the care-standard for animals in AHS’ care may go down, with means more animals will die and less will be adopted out.  FOOD FOR THOUGHT.

Not only are you ranting and raving statements without validity which will ultimately have a negative effect on other animals in AHS’ care, you may also be hindering future updates regarding our beloved inspiration and miracle, Patrick.

If there are constant rages, don’t you think that IF AHS decides to place Patrick with another family, that they will then keep that information confidential so that no one will further harass his adoptive parents?  If that happens, you can kiss your updates goodbye.

We must  remember that Patrick is a miracle, inspiration, and the poster-puppy for abused animals everywhere.  But Patrick is also still a dog.  A dog who has the same wants and needs as any other dog.  Let him be a dog.

There were THOUSANDS of applications submitted to adopt Patrick.

This is all very bittersweet for me.  Its BEAUTIFUL that Patrick, a dog who was unloved and neglected for so long, has so many people who want to give him the love and adoration he never had.

But where are these THOUSANDS of people, ready and willing to adopt, when dogs are being euthanized for space everyday.  We have THOUSANDS of people who want to make a difference, I implore each and every one of them to go ADOPT A DOG IN NEED.  There are too many beautiful animals being killed everyday simply because there isn’t enough space for them.

It is ridiculously selfish to ONLY want to adopt Patrick.

EVERYONE cares about Patrick.  Everyone, AHS, included, wants the best for Patrick (as seen by their constant updates on their page).  So lets stop the bidding war, clear our heads, and let the experts decide what is best for Patrick, Patrick the dog… not Patrick the media sensation.

Crush: What-the-F..................

Crush.  Just when you think you've learned about and exposed all the sick and twisted ways people exploit animals for their mentally disturbed fantasies, you discover 'crush.'

What is crush?

According to Wikipedia, Crush is defined as follows:

"A crush fetish is a paraphilia in which one is sexually aroused when usually someone of the opposite sex crushes objects, food and sometimes small animals with their foot.[1][2][3] The term soft crush, the more common fetish: refers to videos involving small animals being crushed, usually invertebrates (e.g. insects, worms, spiders) while the term hard crush which has drawn more attention: refers to such videos involving larger animals, and arguably more pain-susceptible animals (e.g. reptiles, birds, mammals). The preference could be barefoot, high-heels, flip flops, converse and so on, depending on the fetishist."
WTF!

Before photo & I won't post the after photo...

In layman's terms and for example:  A mentally disturbed individual gets sexually aroused when they put on high heels and 'crush' a small animal, usually kitties, with the spike in their heel (as well as other variations of animals and shoes).

Again, WTF!

What is even more disturbing is not only are there fetish videos going viral on the internet, but some pro-crush groups have even made public pages on Facebook; pages everyone can see, pages our children can access.

Hell, you can go to Google, type in the words "animal crush" and the first image  you will see is the above kitten being crushed; the after photo I refuse to put in this blog entry.

This trend is disgusting, foul, beyond comprehension, and above all it is murder

President Obama, in December 2010, signed a law that specifically bans these crush videos.

CNN Reports:

"The Animal Crush Video Prohibition Act criminalizes the creation, sale, and marketing of these specific kinds of videos, which lawmakers had labeled as "obscene." Penalties of up to seven years in prison would be possible."

Seven years?  Sorry, UP TO SEVEN YEARS?  Is that a joke?!  WTF!

It should labeled as murder and these violent, twisted individuals should be facing a whole lot more than seven years behind bars for these barbaric acts against innocent animals all for the purpose of satisfying some sick sexual desire.

Hey Obama:  How about we start with seven years in jail and then a LIFETIME of THERAPY?!?!

At any rate, there are organizations that are trying to desperately spread the word about Crush and bring this travesty to a hault.

Rape: Swept under the carpet

If a person forces another person to have sexual intercourse, it is called rape.
If a pedophile forces a child to have sexual intercourse, it is called rape.
If a person forces an animal to participate in acts of a sexual nature or sexual intercourse, it is called beastiality.

Animal abuse cases are sweeping the world right now.  There are stray dogs being poisoned on the streets of Turkey; animals forced to live in deplorable conditions in Romania; dogs being hung in Greece; bears being held captive in coffin-sized cages in China; donkeys being thrown from bridges; cats and other small animals being killed for 'crush fetishes'; animals being neglected, beaten, starved, exploited, thrown in dumpsters, down trash chutes, and left to die all over the United States and the world.

What we don't hear about very often, however, is the taboo subject of beastiality or zoosexuality.  A form of sexual abuse against an animal, in which, in most cases, these animals are unable to be rehabilitated and live normal, happy and sometimes healthy lives.

In Warren, Pennsylvania a rapist by the name of Gerald P. Mathers, 49, entered a guilty plea and admitted to engaging in sexual acts with one of his three dogs.  After being sentenced he then stated:  "I do have two (other) dogs.  I'd like to keep them." WTF!

Mathers was sentenced to only 46 days in jail with credit for 46 days served, two years of probation, $1,000 in fines, $350 in fees, 45 hours of community service, court costs, and to was ordered to received a mental health evaluation.  HOW is this fair?

The dog he raped is now enduring a lifetime of pain, fear, and anxiety.  He has to be reassured that it is okay to use the bathroom; he is afraid of human contact; and there is a possibility that this poor dog may not be able to be rehabilitated, ever.  Again, I ask, HOW is this fair?

Why is this not considered rape?  Why is the law even questionable when it comes to this topic?  Clearly, an animal doesn't have the intelligence and lacks the mental capacity to make a decision regarding whether or not they choose to have something inserted into their anus/or vagina for the sexual gratification purposes of a human.  A child cannot voice their opposition, neither can an animal - So I ask, what is the DIFFERENCE?

Wikipedia states:
"In many jurisdictions, all forms of zoosexual acts are prohibited; others outlaw only the mistreatment of animals, without specific mention of sexual activity. In some countries, such as Denmark, bestiality is not outlawed. It is currently illegal in Canada, Netherlands, 31 U.S. states,[19] Australia (except for ACT and JBT), and New Zealand. In the UK, Section 63 of the Criminal Justice and Immigration Act 2008 (also known as the Extreme Pornography Act) outlaws images of a person performing or appearing to perform an act of intercourse or oral sex with an animal (whether dead or alive).[20] Countries such as Belgium, Germany, and Russia are somewhere in between: they permit sexual activity with animals, but prohibit the promotion of animal-oriented pornography.[21]"
Regarding the law, did you know that this is a misdemeanor in 15 U.S. States, Pennsylvania included.  Beastiality/Zoosexuality is a felony in only 16 states.  This means there are only 31 states that have laws addressing this issue.

Wikipedia also states:
"The remaining 19 states (and DC) do not have laws against zoophilia. Two states had laws against zoophilia that were declared unconstitutional by state courts and were subsequently invalidated: Montana and North Carolina.[19] In Kansas, a law against zoophilia was repealed.[19] In the District of Columbia, a law against zoophilia (listed under "sodomy") was repealed.[47]"
WTF!

Repealed?  Unconstitutional?  What about these animals?  Their right to live a life without sustaining horrific abuse?

Last year, Douglas Spink, a wealthy entrepreneur was arrested for running a "beastiality farm."  WTF! Apparently, there were mice found with their tails chopped off, smothered in vaseline, that subsequently had to be euthanized due to the condition they were found in.  Other animals, such as horses and dogs, were seized, and some of the dogs had to also be euthanized due to the poor condition they were found in as a direct result of the abuse.

But yet in some states and in some countries this type of behavior is LEGAL?

There has been a clear comparison about those who abuse animals and their willingness to abuse other humans as well.

If a child runs around killing kitties, that violence will escalate as the child becomes older and other people may then become to object of his anger.

What about these rapists?  Animal rapists?  If someone rapes an innocent animal does this mean they are capable of raping an innocent child?

My opinion:  YES!!!!!!  OF COURSE!!!!!!!

Just ask Krystal Violet Norby of Minnesota who was arrested in January 2011 for taking pictures of herself engaging in sexual acts with not only a dog, but two young children as well.  WTF!

Legislature in every state, in every country, all OVER the WORLD needs to change.  Animal abuse is a serious crime that is often met and cradled in the hands of leniency when it comes to just about all judicial systems on this planet.

How can the world expect to have regard and care for human life, if we have none for other living, breathing animals?

Shh.

In a world where animals are being starved and skinned, children are being sold as prostitutes, people are murdered simply because of the shade of their skin, villages are being burned, women are being raped, diseases are spiraling out of control with no cure in sight, and war seems to be just about everywhere, more than ever people are more concerned with addressing these issues omiting and censoring key factors, simply because their statements and/or opinions may not be deemed politically correct.

That's bullshit, in my opinion.

There is a fine line between getting your point across and bashing and insulting someone else.  But the rules of verbal warfare have spun ridiculously out of control to a point where you can't even mention the word "gay" without being accused of being a homophobe.

In a society, like we have in the good ol' USA, who is so dead-set freedom it is amazing that we have begun to censor ourselves and silence our opinions as a whole for fear of being socially rejected of saying the 'wrong thing.'

Maybe if we all said what we meant and how we feel, there wouldn't be room for society to misconstrue what our opinions really are.  If we stopped beating around the bush and made our points crystal clear, maybe, just maybe, assumptions would stop and our words would be taken more seriously.

If you don't like my opinion, don't listen to me.
If you don't like rap music, don't listen to the hip-hop station.
If you don't like gay people, well, stop watching Glee. (Joke!)
And if you don't like this blog, don't READ IT!

So the next time I call you gay, and you are, don't be insulted.
The next time I say, 'fudge you', don't get your panties in a bunch.
The next time I choose to expel my opinion all over this blog, try not to take it personally.

Thanks for reading. :)

The Sheps

Abuse - its happening all over the world; its happening in your community; it could be happening right next door, and in this case it did.

I take you back to Sunday, February 13, 2011 where a shocking discovery was made in Monroe County, Pennsylvania.

Two German Shepherds were found wandering by a neighbor.  In an effort to return them, this neighbor brought them back to what appeared to have been an abandoned home.  A second building was subsequently discovered on the property.

This is what was inside that building:

In the picture above, there appears to be blood stains all over the wall.  It can only be assumed that before this Shep passed he was desperately trying over and over again to escape through the window until his little emaciated body just couldn't go on.

Ten Sheps were ultimately discovered.  Three of which had parished due to this horrific act of neglect and abuse.  Confirmed by a vet, these three Sheps died as a direct result of starvation: a long, painful, unnecessary death.  It should be noted that there was dog food found inside this prison-like kennel.  However, the dogs had no access to it.  They could see it, smell it, but not reach it.

Another one of the three perished Sheps, waiting by his door, to be loved, fed, pet, until he took his last breath.

The third Shep who appears to have also been waiting for affection, love, food.

To further show just how bad the conditions were for the Sheps, get this:  One of the dogs found in his torture-kennel was estimated initially to be a four month old pup weighing aproximately 30 pounds.  Shockingly, it was later determined that this dog was in fact estimated to be 8 to 10 years old.  The average weight for an adult Shep is 77 pounds.

You don't have to be an animal advocate or even own a pet to get angry seeing these horrific images.

These Sheps were forced to live in deplorable conditions, without food or water.  They were forced to live in a prison surrounded by their own defication.  They were forced to die, in a cell, alone, cold and hungry.  These acts are nothing short of abuse and torture.

The owner of this property is Pantellis "Pete" Zervas, a local diner owner in Monroe County, PA.

Pete Zervas is an abuser.

Zervas went before Judge John D. Whitesell of the Monroe County Courthouse last Wednesday.

Zervas was found guilty on all ten animal cruelty charges.

Don't start cheering yet though.

Zervas' punishment, or lackthereof, includes the following:

  • 5,000.00 fine; Zervas apparently has been given permission to make payments on this fine and if is late could face up to 30 days in jail.
  • Zervas is prohibited from owning any animal for a maximum of 900 days.
W T F!!!!!!!  How is this justice?  How is this punishment?  How is this fair?

Personally I think that Zervas should be locked in his own kennel, without food or water, in his own piss and shit.

To make matters worse, Zervas' attorney, Brandon Reish,  made the following statement directly after the hearing, "I can say that we are not going to appeal.  We think it was a fair decision. It was a difficult case."

Fair decision?  Difficult?  There is nothing FAIR about this decision and the facts seem pretty clear to me.  Zervas intentionally abused and tortured these dogs. Zervas was the ultimate deciding factor in their fate.  Zervas murdered innocent animals because he was simply too lazy, too cheap, and too selfish to give a &#$%.  Five grand probably won't even cover the vet care the survivors had to receive due to the abuse at Zervas' hand.

The remaining seven survivors from the Zervas kennel are being nursed back to health and are expected to make a full recovery.

Justice has not been served.

There are several Facebook pages dedicated to bringing awareness to the abuse that happened in Monroe County.  You can visit the following Facebook pages for updates on how you can help get the word out there and demand justice:

The Movement: United we stand, and we're not fallin' EVER.

State pages? WTF!  Without uniformity or a dictator running the show? HA!  It’ll never work.  You will never accomplish anything.  You are ruining this cause.

We were doubted and publically ridiculed.  But oh, how wrong they were.

A lesson to be learned – Never doubt the human spirit.

We all know the controversy and story behind the state pages, which are now the Movement pages.   No need to rehash that one!

It should be understood though that the Movement was not an original collective effort.  Personally inspired by which is now called The Patrick Movement of NJ, I decided to create a page for my fellow Pennsylvanians.  Other inspired Patrick supporters, followed suit.  Next thing you know, we had an entire Movement going!

As the Movement unfolded it unveiled the true testament of the human heart and spirit.

While each Movement page has their own specific agenda, we generally all have the same mission, to wit:  Promoting and petitioning for a change in legislature, cross-posting animals in need and fundraising on a local level.

Through the ups and the downs, the building and subsequent rebuilding, we have all managed to work together and support each other’s efforts.

In any event, the Movement is here and is making some great progress!

Ø     Karen, creator and co-admin of the NJ Movement page, and the inspiration behind the Pennsylvania Movement page, has made great strides in her state along with the help of her fellow Jersey residents and supports.  They have a successful donation drive happening all over the world commencing today!  “A Gift from Patrick” is a way to further come together, support Patrick’s plight together, and make a difference all across the world.  Currently, 8,040 have pledged to participate in this event by donating to their local shelters in honor of Patrick’s one month anniversary, which has been dubbed his re-birth.  To support this event on Facebook, please visit:  http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=176072132442069

New Jersey is also working extremely hard maintaining contact with their local politicians and finally has someone listening to them!  We’re keeping our paws crossed for NJ!

Ø     Bonnie, administrator for The Patrick Movement for FL has also been working extremely hard and not only just for her state!

I firmly believe that cross-posting saves lives.  It is not a question of opinion anymore, it is fact.  With that being said, Bonnie has been working tirelessly posting, reposting, cross-posting, and reposting again a heartbreaking story.

As a pibble (Pit-bull) owner, I can completely understand and sympathize with the current trend of breed discrimination.  It is happening everywhere; ALL OVER THE WORLD.  Don’t believe me?  Look up Lennox’s story on Facebook.  Now breed discrimination is taking on a new name:  MASSACRE.  Currently, Bonnie is fighting to help save dogs in Denver, CO at an animal sanctuary.  Because they are pibbles, the county is threatening to take them as they have outlawed the entire breed.  WHAT A CROCK.  What are they going to do with these pibbles?  KILL THEM.  Bonnie, as well as her Florida following has made this their current mission.  If you would like to help, please visit:  http://bslnews.org/2011/04/12/urgent-action-needed-mariah's-promise-sanctuary-in-danger-of-closing/

Ø     Pennsylvania is also making great strides for their residents as well.  A team of three administrators are all working at different angles in order to multi-task and keep Pennsylvanians involved and informed!

The Pennsylvania page is not only rallying for Patrick’s plight, but the plight of all abused animals.  We are working on researching laws and how to change the same.  We are petitioning our local officials to hear our voices. (There are currently two petitions going:  One for changing laws and one for an animal abuse registry.) We are also working on Pay-It-Forward for Patrick, which is a donation drive to take place in different counties in Pennsylvania at the end of May 2011.  We are working on trying to push for adoption drives with local rescues.  Multi-tasking at its best!

These Movement pages are not the only ones moving forward and making progress!  Each Movement page has made great strides at making changes in their respective states.   It is important to change laws, I agree.  But while we’re changing laws we cannot forget about all of the “Patricks” out there who need us NOW.

Do you want to be a part of the Movement?  Find your state:  http://www.facebook.com/PatrickTheNationalMovement?sk=app_4949752878

It should be noted by every reader, every supporter that THE PATRICK MOVEMENT is only as successful as the people who support the cause.  The Movement wouldn’t be a success without the passion of thousands of people wanting to make a difference for those without a voice.  I thank you.
